Course Syllabus.

 

* Introduction and licence check.

1. Difference between the available passenger carriages licences issued by the local authority.

2. Application Procedure.

3. The two types of tests and their format.

4. Examiners expectations.

5. Vehicle groups and speed limits.

6. Reversing excercises accepted by the examiner.

7. Cabology.

* Vehicle safety eyesight check ** The vehicle checks are not part of the practical taxi test.

* Assessment drive and debrief ***The training may have to be done in the trainer's vehicle due to insurance. The standard motor insurance is only valid for 'Social, Domestic, and Pleasure' purposes, which does not allow the candidate to receive training in their own car. If the candidate wishes to be trained in their own vehicle , then they will have to supply a business insurance which allows the training to take place, and insures the trainer to drive that vehicle. The documents have to be made available to the trainer for inspection. It is also at the discretion of the trainer, despite the proper insurance havinf been sought, whether the candidate's vehicle is deemed suitable for the training to be carried out.

* Trainers demonstration drive.

* Lunch.

* Reversing/turning manoeuvres.

* Candidates development drive.

* Cabology.

* Debrief and close.

The cost of the course is £150 inclusive of VAT (special offer) and needs to be paid in advance. The courses are run every week and we can either come to you or you come to us. We can also arrange accomodation for you if required.

You will receive a certificate of completion at the end of the course, this in no way reflects the outcome of any tests that you will do, it's purely to say that you have received all the relevent information to enable you to be successful in either of the taxi tests.

The course is very successful and we currently have a 90% pass rate with Potential taxi drivers that have taken the Driving Standards Agency Hackney Carriage/Private Hire Taxi Test.

Hourly rates for non Taxi Training course attendants are £ 25 per hour, Elite driver trainers advises that a two hour training session to start with, would be more beneficial to the candidate.
